Dear neighbor

Our schools shape the future, and now is the time to be all in for every child.

My name is Dr. Jonathan Leon, and I am running for the Atlanta Board of Education District 6 seat because I believe every child deserves a school where they are safe, valued, and equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed. As a father with children in APS, a former APS teacher, and a lifelong advocate for education, I know firsthand what is possible when we have leaders who invest in our students—not just academically, but holistically. I have spent years working alongside families, educators, and community leaders to ensure that every child, no matter their zip code, has access to a quality education. Now, I’m ready to take that commitment even further.

Too many of our students are being left behind. Only 35% of APS students are reading on grade level, and even fewer are proficient in math. These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent children, families, and futures. We must act with urgency and boldness to ensure that our schools are places where every child can thrive, every educator is supported, and every family is engaged as a partner in student success.

I believe in the power of our community to create real, lasting change. Together, we can ensure that every APS student has access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need. This is not about politics—it’s about standing up for our children and ensuring they have the future they deserve.

I invite you to stand with me and join this movement! Let’s be all in for every child, reimagine what’s possible, and build a future where Atlanta Public Schools set the standard for excellence and equity. Thank you for your support, your voice, and your commitment to our students.
